In 2012, the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) released a study that helped identify the most pressing issues in the cloud computing space. Group Notorious Nine released the reportserious cloud security threats, from data breaches and leaks to account theft, denial of service, malicious insiders and malicious use.
The famous Nine Bands later expanded Betrayed 12, but for many organizations the problem persists for a whole decade. Let’s take two recent reports as examples. A study by Osterman ResearchOf the more than 300 organizations surveyed on behalf of Ermetic, 84% found that their cloud security capabilities were only entry-level.
At the same time, Report by ClearDATA It argues that healthcare providers “may be overconfident in the maturity and cybersecurity readiness of the cloud.” The report found a “significant discrepancy” in how C-level executives and other levels of management define cloud maturity.
It’s worth noting that Ermetic, as a provider of cloud infrastructure security platforms, and ClearDATA, as a provider of managed cloud and security services for the healthcare industry, are interested in ways to report these results. That said, 56% of ClearDATA respondents cited cybersecurity as the biggest barrier to cloud adoption, so security will continue to be everyone’s responsibility.
