Another weird week of 2022 in the bag. I’m not saying it was a bad year, but it was most. What happened this week? Good. A hacker captured the footage A game in development by Rockstar and posted it online. Logitech is creating a rival to the Steam Deck. And maybe it’s time to revisit Cyberpunk 2077? Like I said, weird week.

The GTA VI leak was terrible on its own, but I was a little disappointed to see how everyone criticized it. If you need to hear it from me: There’s (probably) nothing wrong with Grand Theft Auto VI judging by the footage. Games don’t feel like games until release time. That’s why game publishers pay third-party filmmakers to make cinematic trailers for games in development. I’d be a hypocrite if I dismissed speculative criticism before I started, but I don’t want anyone to write off GTA VI because they saw a version of it they never wanted to see.

Other things happening this week feel almost fluffy and light in comparison. Logitech’s handheld may well have guts, and it’ll have Game Pass and GeForce Now right out of the box. Also, the Cyberpunk Netflix ad blitz seems to have worked, as thousands of players are either returning to the game or trying it out for the first time. Now I hear it’s good, but I don’t want to spend more time on it since my issues with the game aren’t just about bugs and glitches.

In personal news, I’ll be spending the entire weekend playing the early access version of Slime Rancher 2. Ever since it was announced last year, I’ve been waiting for this crazy, candy-bright sim game. I’m not ashamed to say that I spent hundreds of hours on the original and want to escape back to its simple world. If anyone needs me, I’ll be vacuuming up happy, smiling jelly creatures and picking up their trash for money.
