AMD has chosen Google Cloud to provide a chip design workload

Google Cloud and AMD will build a technology partnership, and AMD will implement electronic design automation (EDA) for its chip design workload on Google Cloud, further expanding the internal capabilities of the AMD data center.

AMD will also use Google Cloud’s global networking, storage, artificial intelligence, and machine learning capabilities to improve hybrid and multi-cloud strategies for these EDA workloads.

Size, flexibility, and resource efficiency play an important role in chip design, especially as the demand for computational processing increases as the node grows. For flexibility and easy scaling, AMD will add a C2D VM example to its EDA workload-focused resource package, optimizing the latest computing powered by Google Cloud’s 3rd generation AMD EPYC ™ processor. Using Google Cloud, AMD believes it will have more flexibility to manage short-term computational demand without reducing the allocation of long-term projects and allow more models to run in parallel in the team.
